The Second World Summit for Social Development concludes today in Doha.

Education stakeholders have been actively engaging throughout the week to ensure that education remains central to the discussions — and that the final Doha Political Declaration, adopted on 4th November, strongly reflects education as a key driver of social development.

Among those actively contributing were our partners, the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), Education International, the Right to Education Initiative, and many more, who hosted an online solutions session ahead of the conference “Realising the Right to Education: Reclaiming Public Systems for Equity and Inclusion.”
🎓 The discussion focused on how privatisation threatens equitable, quality education — and the urgent need to strengthen public systems to reach the most marginalised learners.

Our members were also active at the Summit. Plan International Ireland and Save the Children, together with partners and with support from the Irish Government, co-hosted a side event on “Addressing Structural Inequalities Through Girls’ Education for Inclusive Social Development.”
🔭The event highlighted how investing in girls’ education can dismantle structural inequalities and drive more inclusive and sustainable social development.

As world leaders in Doha acknowledged that far too many children remain out of school, we urge governments — including the Irish Government — to take effective measures and ensure sustained, adequate funding for education initiatives worldwide. 🔑🤝
