✔️ The impact of the wars on learning and education
✔️ How today’s attacks on education are robbing entire generations of their futures
📅 Date: 9th September
🕐 Time: 12:30–1:20pm (UTC+1 / Irish Time)
📍 Online
Other distinguished speakers include Michela Ranieri from the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack and Amy Folan from Concern Worldwide who will introduce the topic, explore legal protections, highlight international efforts to protect education, and spotlight specific country situations, including in Niger.
The seminar will also feature breakout sessions, giving participants the opportunity to discuss specific sub-topics and dive deeper into discussion with our speakers.
Established by the UN General Assembly to highlight the urgent need to safeguard education in conflict, the International Day to Protect Education from Attack takes on even greater importance in light of the global spike in attacks on education: Between 2022 and 2023 alone, the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) recorded more than 6,000 attacks on students, teachers, and educational institutions—a 20% increase compared to previous years. And numbers from 2024 are expected to be higher.
