As COP30 enters its second and final week, with climate negotiations reaching a critical stage, we’ve shared our COP30 Manifesto & Brief with Climate Minister Darragh O’Brien and other relevant stakeholders, including Minister for International Development Neale Richmond and Youth Advocates.

In our manifesto, we call on COP30 negotiators and the Irish government to integrate education into all relevant UNFCCC policy processes

The climate crisis is also an education crisis. Children, especially the most vulnerable, are facing severe learning disruptions. At the same time, education is a cost-effective way to tackle climate change. Yet, it remains under-prioritised at climate negotiations.

INEW’s manifesto outlines practical calls to action and valuable information for decision-makers, stakeholders, and activists, including:

  • Integrating education into long-term strategies, updated NDCs and NAPs.
  • Embedding green skills and climate education in national curricula.
  • Investing in climate-resilient education systems.

Integrating education into climate solutions is vital for Ireland’s global role — promoting stability and prosperity, while serving as a strong voice advocating for the countries and communities most at risk.

The manifesto is INEW’s key resource on climate and education, highlighting what climate negotiations are missing—and what must change—to ensure education is central to climate action.
